Commercial Session

Yesterday in our morning commercial session I passed my practical for evening makeup covering all of the making up products, age range 31-50 and combination skin. For my next practical assessment on the 9th May I will aim to pass occasion makeup and a manicure buff finish which will the complete all of my criteria for the practical of level 2 beauty therefore I can focus on the theory side working towards A and P tests that are coming up.

Monday 11th of April Commercial Salon

Last Monday in commercial salon i manged to pass 3 practical assessments which was manicure without a add on, pedicure with paraffin wax and a french polish and a manicure with warm oil. I am pleased with the result of all of these treatments as i believed they was all up to a high standard.

Work Placement In A Salon

Work Placement In A Salon

On the 1st of April, I managed to get a work placement at a salon ( The Therapy Lounge). Up to now I have done 33 hours of work experience. I believe it is very helpful as I now know what it is like to be in a salon out in industry. I have mainly done reception duties such as checking in and out clients, taking payments and booking appointments. I also clean and tidy the salon making sure it is always looking its best giving it its professional image. I have also set up rooms for treatments other therapists within the salon.
Overall i am enjoyed my time doing work experience in the salon helping me gain experience and expand my knowledge about the beauty industry.

Wednesday 16th. Work Experience

Wednesday in our work experience lesson we did a basic manicure for a trade test. We got into pairs and performed one on each other in the time set (45 minutes). The finish I did on my client was a french polish which the client was happy with she said that her favorite part of the manicure was the massage as it was relaxing. We are practicing trade test in preparation for the 20th of April where we will be performing a trade test on assessors to see how we would do if it was for a interview at a salon.

Commercial Salon Monday 21st

Every Monday morning we have a commercial session at college where we can bring clients in to carry out treatments to pass assessments. 

Today I had two clients; my first client had a pedicure with the add on of foot mask and thermal boots with a dark polish finish. My client fully enjoyed the treatment which she had never had before and would like to have a pedicure more regularly which I recommended due to having dry,  hard skin and overgrown cuticles. 

My second client had an eyelash tint and a manicure. For the eyelash tint I modified my treatment to have the client to sit on a stationary chair due to the last time the client came in she was uncomfortable on the bed. She was happy with the results of the tint and it enchanted her eyelash which was very fair. Then I went on to complete the manicure with the add on hand masks and thermal mitts which my client enjoyed, I chose the thermal mitts due to my client being more mature and having arthritis is her fingers so I believed that the thermal mitts would benefit her more. The client requested a French finish which I completed however I need more practice on French finished as I wasn't happy with the overall finish.

Overall I believe my commercial session was successful and gave me a chance to see where I can improve. 

Chesterfield College Open Evening

Chesterfield College Open Evening

Yesterday (14/03/16), I volunteered to represent Chesterfield College Beauty courses at the open evening. 

I enjoyed taking place in this event because I got to talk to people interested in doing a beauty course about the course I am completing, what it involves and what you can progress onto. It also helped me gain experience doing treatments and interacting with people who wanted the treatment. I was doing which was hand and arm massage using a Eve Taylor Massage Candle, that we also retail at college. It also gave me chance to talk about the information I have learnt in my theory lesson. It also gave us chance to carry out treatments on male clients that wanted the treatment which I found you needed to use more product because of the dry/dehydrated skin and use more pressure due to the tension. I found this experience very helpful and I would recommend any student to take part.

I am currently completing NVQ level 2 beauty therapy qualification at Chesterfield college and I aim to progress onto Level 3 Advanced beauty therapy.
I am able to work the hours required including weekends.
I believe I would be suitable for this job because I am passionate about beauty, I aim to give all clients a high standard treatment and giving them the best care possible. I enjoy carrying out a wide range of treatments and give them the best aftercare advice suited to the client. I ensure that all clients leave the treatments feeling relaxed and pampered.

A Blog I Am Interested In

For my task this week i had to find a blog i was interested in and post a photo of it onto my blog so i chose Makeupsavy.co.uk. I chose this blog because the blogger behind this post reviews about products they have used and the results including pictures of the product. They also include the price of the product and where to purchase from. The blogger also includes a range of beauty facts regularly that you probably didn't know.

On this blog the blogger writes about different categories such as beauty, nails, skincare and lifestyle which can be accessed by the bar at the top.

When you first go on to the site this is the first think that comes up.
